Muscle Building Shake ? Strawberry Banana Protein Shake Recipe ...

www.FreeMuscleProgram.com In this video, I teach you how to make a great muscle building or fat loss shake. The only thing that really changes is the amount of ingredients you put in. For fat loss, I would recommend only putting a half serving of the fruit and double the protein powder. Recipe 1 Banana 1/2 ? 1 Cup of Oats 1/2 cup of strawberries 1-2 scoops of chocolate protein powder cinnamon Be sure to blend the oats and protein powder before adding the fruit and water. Blending the dry ingredients will provide better absorption for digestion. You can also choose to cook the oats first then blend all together. Add ice if desired and put as much cinnamon for sweetener! (AP) ? Fears that Europe's debt crisis is morphing from Greece to engulf bigger economies such as Spain and Italy sent Asian stock markets lower Thursday.

Spain's banking system is under strain a week after Bankia, its fourth-largest bank, required $23.8 billion in government aid to cover souring real estate loans.

Investors are increasingly worried that problems might surface at other Spanish banks. Many lent heavily during the nation's real estate bubble and losses from the real estate crash might be too big for Spain's government to shoulder.

Another negative signal came from the European Central Bank, which said Spaniards pulled billions in deposits out of their banks last month, raising concerns of a larger bank run.

On Wednesday, borrowing rates rose sharply for Spain and Italy, a sign that investors are increasingly uneasy about their ability to pay off their debt.

Japan's Nikkei 225 index tumbled 1.9 percent, also hit by a stronger yen which erodes the profits of the country's exporters. Mazda Motor Corp. plunged 5.8 percent and Canon Inc. fell 4.4 percent.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng lost 1.4 percent to 18,423.61 and South Korea's Kospi was down 1.3 percent at 1,821.32.

Australia's S&P/ASX 200 shed 1.1 percent to 4,051. Benchmarks in Singapore, Taiwan, mainland China, Indonesia and the Philippines also fell.

Energy shares fell on lower oil prices. Hong Kong-listed Sinopec, Asia's biggest oil refiner, fell 1.8 percent. China National Offshore Oil Corp., or CNOOC, lost 2.7 percent.

The Dow Jones industrial average closed down 1.3 percent Wednesday at 12,419.86. The Standard & Poor's 500 index lost 19.10 points to 1,313.32.

The Nasdaq composite index fell 33.63 to 2,837.36. Rising demand for safe investments pushed the yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note down to 1.61 percent, apparently the lowest since World War II.

Benchmark oil for July delivery was down 19 cents to $87.63 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract slid $2.99 to close at $87.82 on the Nymex on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the euro plunged below $1.24 for the first time in nearly two years as traders fretted over Spain's economy. The euro fell to $1.2369 from $1.2382 late in the day in New York. The dollar fell to 78.75 yen from 79.07 yen.

Stocks plummet as outlook in Europe dims

Traders fearful of a rupture in Europe's financial system retreated Wednesday from risky investments. They punished stocks and fled to the safety of U.S. bonds, pushing the yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note to a record low.

Major U.S. stock indexes fell more than 1 percent. European stocks fell even more, and the euro dropped to a nearly two-year low against the dollar. Borrowing rates for Italy and Spain, both of which are seen as the next problem cases in Europe's debt drama, rose sharply as traders dumped bonds issued by those governments.

Rising demand for low-risk, easily tradable securities pushed the yield on the 10-year Treasury note to 1.64 percent from 1.74 percent late Tuesday. German government bond yields, also seen as safe, turned lower.

The Dow Jones industrial average plunged 147 points to 12,433. The Dow has had a miserable May. It's down 5.9 percent for the month, putting it on track this week to end its first losing month since September.

Concerns about Europe seemed to lurk around every corner: the European Commission said consumer confidence fell sharply in the region last month. Spaniards withdrew money from their banks, spreading fear about that nation's ability to go on without bailouts. Spain's main stock index fell two percent.

An opinion poll in Greece showed that the far-left Syriza party is gaining support ahead of key elections. Syriza opposes the system of bailouts and sharp budget cuts that have kept Greece afloat but also punished its economy. If the party wins, Greece may be forced to exit the euro currency. The shockwaves could topple nations that have received bailouts, like Portugal, and those that might need them, like Italy.

Amid the tumult, Europe's executive branch called on the 17 nations that use the currency to create a "banking union" that can centrally oversee and ? if needed ? bail out the sector.

If Europe's financial crisis plunges it into a deep recession, global economic growth will likely falter, reducing demand for commodities and machines that power growth. Fearing that outcome, traders pushed heavy equipment maker Caterpillar and aluminum company Alcoa to the biggest declines among the 30 companies that make up the Dow.

The euro fell as low as $1.2387, the lowest since the summer of 2010. Benchmark stock indexes plunged 2.7 percent in Spain, 2.2 percent in Italy and 2.4 percent in France.

In other U.S. trading, the Standard & Poor's 500 index lost 17 to 1,315. The Nasdaq composite average slid 37 to 2,833.

Metals, food and energy commodities all fell sharply. Crude oil lost nearly $3 to $88 a barrel, a large move. Crude has been falling steadily since the beginning of May, when it traded as high as $106 a barrel.

Spain's borrowing costs soared to the highest level since the country joined the euro. Traders are worried that Spain won't be able to navigate the real estate crash that forced it to bail out one of its biggest lenders, Bankia.

The yield on Spain's 10-year bonds, a key indicator of market confidence in a country's ability to pay down its debt, shot as high as 6.69 percent, matching the level it hit at the height of the euro crisis late last year.

Agricultural giant Monsanto was one of the few big gainers in a sea of red. The stock jumped 3 percent after the company's CEO told investors that earnings will likely surge 25 percent this year, far more than Wall Street had been expecting. Sales were strong in its seed and chemicals business, including Roundup herbicides.

BlackBerry maker Research in Motion plunged 10 percent to $10 after the company said late Tuesday it had hired a team of bankers to help it weigh its options ? Wall Street jargon for a possible sale or reorganization. RIM's business has been crumbling as smartphone users move to iPhone and Android devices.

Zing Toys CrossBow and Zip-Bak Bow Review {Giveaway} | Go ...

The one thing Graham asked for his birthday this year was a new bow from Zing Toys. ?The one he got last summer finally bit the dust! ?So, when I went to Amazon in search of the bow I found a brand new addition, the Z-X CrossBow and ordered it for him. ?Shortly there after Zing Toys contacted me about another new addition, the Zip-Bak Bow. ?So, Graham now has both bows and has been enjoying them just about every day outside.

Z-X CrossBow

The CrossBow was a great choice for Graham (age 5) because unlike the original Z-Curve Bow and the Zip-Bak Bow it has a place to attach the arrow. ?By attaching the arrow little hands no longer have to balance the arrow inside the device before pulling it. ?Graham is able to attach the arrow to the trigger and pull it with no issues. ?We did have one of the arrows break the first day of use, but the rest of them have been going strong since April.

Zip-Bak Bow

The Zip-Bak Bow is a cool new spin on the original bow because it is more compact. ?As you pull the arrow back on the device the bow pops out. ?When you release the arrow the bow pops back in. ?The Zip-Bak Bow is a little bit harder for Graham to control just because it requires both hands working at the same time.

Overall, the bows are a great way for kids to spend time outdoors doing something new and different. ?The ends feature soft foam and suction cups so that little bodies are safe. ?The suction cups stick well to windows and sliding glass doors (we know this from experience)!

Make sure to check out our video below to see them in action operated by Graham:

(AP) ? Facebook's stock has fallen below $30 for the first time since its much-awaited public debut this month.

The stock fell $3.07, or 9.6 percent, to close at $28.84 on Tuesday. That's down 24 percent since its public stock debut. It went as low as $28.65 earlier in the day.

Facebook Inc. began trading publicly on May 18 following one of the most anticipated stock offerings in history.

The site, which was born in a Harvard dorm room eight years ago and has grown into a worldwide network of almost a billion people, was supposed to offer proof that social media is a viable business and more than a passing fad.

Facebook's initial public offering of stock priced at $38 and raised $16 billion for Facebook and some of its early investors. It had valued the company at $104 billion ? more than Amazon.com Inc., at $98 billion, at the time.

But the stock's public debut was marred by technical glitches at the Nasdaq Stock Market that delayed trading.

And the company, along with the investment banks that led the IPO, is the subject of at least two shareholder lawsuits. They allege that analysts at the large underwriting investment banks cut their financial forecasts for Facebook just before the IPO and told only a handful of clients. Morgan Stanley has declined to comment. Facebook calls the lawsuits "without merit."

Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter said that Facebook's stock has been hurt by what he called "near-term issues" that include the Nasdaq glitches, an oversupply of stock that was being offered and the allegations of selective information disclosure.

But he rates the stock "Outperform" and has a 12-month target price of $44.

"Facebook has built a huge moat between it and its competitors, and we endorse Mr. Zuckerberg's mission," he wrote in a note to investors Tuesday, referring to Facebook CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg.

With the latest drop, Facebook's value is about $79 billion.

RIM may cut 2,000-plus jobs within two weeks

RIM's current chief Thorsten Heins has had to make some tough decisions in the first few months of his tenure -- and he could be making some particularly difficult choices about trimming the rank and file within the next two weeks. Assuming we take the claims of several contacts for Canada's The Globe and Mail at face value, "at least" 2,000 jobs are being cut on or before June 1st. The numbers could climb higher at that: Reuters is bracing for as many as 6,000 layoffs, and has described an unhappy routine of "Goodbye Thursdays" where more recent hires are let go. RIM has turned down comment on what it calls "rumors and speculation," and we'd hope for the sake of those possibly affected that it's not true. Having said this, it's hard not to imagine Heins wanting to streamline the BlackBerry maker as much as possible to adapt to shrinking market share and keep the company afloat until BlackBerry 10 potentially spurs a revival.

Congress to spend more on tanks than military wants

By Agence France-Presse
Saturday, May 26, 2012 5:49 EDT

?

The US Congress is poised to approve more funds for modernizing the US Army?s main battle tank despite objections from the military that it puts the Pentagon?s overall strategy in jeopardy.

In its 2013 budget proposal, which begins in October, the Obama administration requested $74 million to upgrade the M1A2 Abrams tank, which originally was intended for land warfare in the plains of central Europe.

But, just as it did last year, the Congress has turned a deaf ear to the Pentagon, with the Republican-controlled House of Representatives passing a defense authorization bill last week that adds an additional $181 million to the program.

In the Senate, Democrats have also gone way beyond the administration?s request and in the Senate Armed Services committee approved an additional $91 million for 33 extra tanks to be upgraded.

?The conundrum we have is that we don?t need the tanks,? General Raymond Odierno, the army chief of staff, told members of Congress.

?Our tank fleet is two-and-a-half years old (on) average now. It?s been recapped, its been reset, we?re in good shape, and these are additional tanks that we don?t need.?

The defense bill is expected to go to the Senate floor next week. The House and Senate versions, with their differing amounts for the Abrams, will then have to be reconciled.

Lawmakers say the additional spending is needed to keep production lines open at the Ohio factory where upgraded tanks are built. They say at least 70 tanks a year must be built for the factory to stay open.

However, Pentagon officials fear that in a time of budget cutbacks, the extra spending on the Abrams and other programs favored by Congress will undercut competing plans considered essential to the US strategy toward Asia.

?There is no free lunch,? US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta warned lawmakers earlier this month.

?And if members try to restore their favorite programs without regard to an overall strategy the cuts will have to come from areas that could impact overall readiness,? he said.

Student art show explores bloom of youth, community | Sun Journal

NORWAY ? What does it mean to bloom?

That's the question students in Virginia Valdes' graphic design and digital imaging classes attempt to answer through their visual arts interpretation of the blooming community of Norway and themselves as teenagers. A show of their work is on display at the Commons Art Collective on Main Street.

Using illustrations, typography, photography, image manipulation, screen printing and block prints, the students from three levels of the class celebrate the people who are considered forces of change in Norway and themselves as they bloom and change as teenagers, Valdes said.

The show is open at the Commons Art Collective at 447 Main St., next to the Fare Share, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, when it closes after a two-week run that has drawn large crowds.

?Change. It's all about change,? Valdes said.

The students and instructor describe the show by saying, ?This blooming can be a physical change, such as getting tattoos, or temporarily changing your gender by donning a fake mustache. You can also mentally alter your state of mind by taking prescription drugs or changing the way you perceive others. These changes have taught us that we need to sustain our youth and preserve our community, without the help of Miracle Gro or Botox. In order for our community to continue to flourish, we must preserve and restore what we have, such as revitalizing Main Street, having a community garden, and creating safe environments for teenagers to go and have fun.?

All of these issues are illustrated in various artistic forms in the show.

Large illustrations of ?change makers? in Norway, such as Norway Downtown's Andrea Burns and Brenda Melhus, Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School Principal Ted Moccia, Cafe Nomad owner Scott Berk, Katey Branch, who helped her daughters Emma and Ruby DayBranch developed the Alan Day Community Garden in honor of their dad and many more ?changers? of Norway are included in the show. The subjects were interviewed about their visions, and the interviews, which were done by student Megan Creney, are available for viewing on a monitor set up in the gallery. Written descriptions of how they helped Norway change are printed? on the back sides of the hanging illustrations.

The show asks how will Norway rebloom as a town, the structure, community, its life and how will its residents and others influence what the community will bloom into.

?The possibilities of these open-ended questions are what we have explored here,? Valdes said.

Know Your Enemy: Philadelphia Union - Meeting The First

Freddy Adu is the main threat to look out for.

Saturday afternoon Toronto FC returns to the pitch at BMO Field to host Philadelphia Union in their final MLS match before the two-week International Break for World Cup Qualifying and the start of the European Championships.

A fair bit of the pregame talk revolves around the horror story that was last season's 6-2 Philadelphia win in Toronto. Historic though it may have been - it is currently the record for most goals conceded in a match and the record home defeat for Toronto, while for Philadelphia it remains their largest margin of victory, most goals scored in a game, contains their earliest goal (2nd minute) and their shortest time to string together three goals (27 minutes) - those teams were very different from the ones that will take the pitch on this day.

Of the twenty-six players that saw the field only half remain - remember Alen Stevanovic? - and of those on the score-sheet that day only Danny Mwanga returns. Gone are the likes of Sebastien Le Toux, Justin Mapp, Maicon Santos and Danleigh Borman; tomorrow's match will bear little resemblance to last year's hammering.

What will be presented is a pair of clubs struggling to emerge from periods of upheaval, both of ideology and of personnel. Toronto and their Dutch influenced 4-3-3 have been talked to death, but Philadelphia's metamorphosis is slightly more subtle.

Coach Piotr Nowak appears driven by a constant need to get younger, fuelled in part by his megalomaniacal need to be the only voice in the dressing room. His constant tinkering with the lineup is mind-boggling to say the least.

Two teams at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, with the fewest number of points in the league, and having scored the fewest number of goals.

Both are in desperate need of points, it should be a classic.

The Lineup

This is where things get tricky.

Philadelphia has tried anything and everything to find cohesion including various formations and select players in several positions. Take Michael Farfan for example, he has appeared as a central attacking midfielder, pushed out to both the right and left flanks and effectively - think Andy Najar at DC - at right-back. Keon Daniel too has appeared all over the midfield as Nowak attempts to decode the proper position for each member of his young team.

One thing that must be said is that he has a bevy of young, interchangeable - and malleable - pieces at his disposal; a weapon that once honed will be a nightmare for the opposition's defenses with players weaving in and out of formation, seamlessly transitioning from one position to another.

One can almost see the outlines of his vision, way off in the distance.

Star-divide

Contradictory reports aside, their projected lineup is loosely a 4-2-3-1 as follows: Zac MacMath in goal; along the back-line from right to left - Michael Farfan, Sheanon Williams, Carlos Valdes, and Gabriel Farfan; Brian Carroll and Gabriel Gomez sitting at the base of the midfield, with Freddy Adu, Keon Daniel, and Lionard Pajoy across the top of the mid, and Danny Mwanga positioned up top.

Goalkeeping is the most troublesome position. MacMath sat out last week with concussion-like symptoms opening the door for Chase Harrison to start in Dallas. Harrison picked up a knock of his own - rolling his ankle and smashing his head on the post as he attempted a save.

Both are currently listed as out on the injury report, but news items state that MacMath is likely to resume the tending duties. Should neither be available the position will likely fall to Chris Konopka, signed by the Union out of the league's reserve keeper pool prior to the start of the season.

The Farfan twins, henceforth known as Marfan and Garfan, for Michael and Gabriel respectively, are adept at any number of positions. Fielding them at full-back allows Nowak to get more talent on the pitch than the likes of Chris Albright, Porfiro Lopez - a Costa Rican, still acclimating to the league - and rookie Raymon Gaddis - who has performed well in his six matches across the back-line this season, but is due a rest - provide.

Valdes, the newly anointed captain, suffered a nasty gash in a clash of heads with Dallas' James Marcelin that forced him out of the match, but should be fit, though either Gaddis or Lopez - as he did to end the Dallas game - could be fielded in a pinch.

Leading goal-scorer, Gomez too suffered a knock after registering the equalizer and left the match shortly thereafter. He is scheduled to depart the club for national team duty - Panama, boo - after the Toronto match and though listed as ?Out' on the league's injury report, other sources have him ready to contribute if called upon.

Should he not recover in time, Amobi Okugo is a steadfast replacement, if less of an offensive threat, or perhaps Michael Lahoud, recently acquired from Chivas for former Captain Danny Califf, though he normally plays a little more forward.

Adu, fresh off suspension - a pair of yellow cards against New York for a striker's tackle and a debatable ?dive' - should return to his right-sided midfield role, while Daniel covers a lot of ground in the middle of the pitch and Pajoy pushes up on the left at times virtually pairing with Mwanga up top.

Despite Roger Torres' unavailability as he recovers from knee surgery, Nowak is left with a pile of attacking options, including young American talents - Jack McInerney, Chandler Hoffman, Zach Pfeffer, and Antoine Hoppenot - foreign acquisitions - Cristhian Hernandez and Josue Martinez - and Kai Herdling - a German forward/midfielder, currently on-loan from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim - to ride the bench and scrap for the scant remaining minutes.

The Form

Philadelphia currently sit in ninth place in the Eastern Conference, eight points ahead of Toronto after ten matches.

They began the season with three straight losses - away to Portland and Chicago, home to Colorado - before a decent spell saw them pick up all but one of their points in the next three matches - a goal-less draw in Vancouver followed by wins over Columbus and Chivas at home and on the road respectively.

Though they have since gone winless - a span of four league games and a friendly against Schalke 04 - they have slowly been improving.

Against San Jose it was a pair of Steven Lenhart headers that were their undoing, including a ninety-third minute winner, cancelling out Gomez's tying goal some ten minutes earlier.

Next in Seattle, they were caught sluggish from a Seattle throw-in that was worked quickly up the field to Fredy Montero, who found Mauro Rosales streaking down the right for a tidy finish low, across the keeper to the far-post to score the game's only goal.

Two weeks ago they lost by the odd goal in five to New York at PPL Park in what was undoubtedly their best game of the season and last weekend they ground out a 1-1 draw in a physical, dour contest in Dallas.

In Dallas they looked shaky on the first corner kick; they conceded on the second.

A right-sided delivery from Bryan Leyva was met by George John in the centre of the box, his downward header deflected neatly to Blas Perez drifting away from his marker - Keon Daniel caught ball-watching - at the back-post. Perez prodded the ball into the goal past a scrambling Chase Harrison.

On a third corner kick the Union looked similarly vulnerable; Daniel again could not shutdown Perez, who rose over him for a header, one more easily dealt with this time.

Gomez leveled the score on a mistake by Carlos Rodriguez. His defensive header screwed back behind his fellow defenders into the path of Gomez - who would have been offside if one of his teammates had played him in - to snap a header down across the keeper, Kevin Hartman, before colliding with him, causing the injury that quickly saw the Philadelphia goal-scorer substituted.

The Union were content to see out the draw and were twice lucky not to be reduced to ten men. Earlier in the match Lahoud, making his debut, could have gone for a second yellow had he been booked for a late tackle that injured Hernan Pertuz, while Marfan's blocking off of a quick break from Jackson could easily have been the Philly right-back's second bookable offense. Philadelphia committed some twenty-two fouls that night, scrapping out the point on the road.

Against New York, Adu ran the show through the early match, before the Red Bulls opened the scoring on the counter. Roy Miller picked out Mehdi Ballouchy streaking down the left channel; he stopped, circled back and picked out the run of Joel Lindpere at the top corner of the box for a thunderous left-footed blast high to the near-post.

Pajoy drew Philly level with a bullet header from a right-sided Adu cross to the edge of the six-yard box, mopping up a second chance from a half-cleared corner kick. Adu was then sent off for the controversial second booking for apparently diving, before Pajoy put the Union in front, capitalizing on a forced turnover, collecting the ball from Mwanga and staying with a bouncing ball that fell kindly for him to roll under a charging Ryan Meara.

That frailty from corner kicks reared its head some twenty minutes later when a right-sided Brandon Barklage corner kick was met by Markus Holgersson in the heart of the box at the edge of the six. He redirected his header across the keeper into the far-corner to draw New York back level. Again it was Daniel who lost his mark.

Kenny Cooper then killed off the short-handed Union. A brilliant ball from the back by Rafa Marquez over the top, Cooper wins the race, chests it past MacMath who slips, and calmly places it with his right foot into the open net from a very tight angle only yards from the end-line.

The Tactics

With all the upheaval and constant tinkering of Nowak, it is hard to pin Philadelphia down to a particular style, they are still in the formative stage as a club and the trades of talismanic figures Califf and Le Toux have yet to finish reverberating through the team.

They have looked their best, more so in attack than defense, in the 4-2-3-1 prescribed above.

Adu is perhaps the most important player on the pitch in terms of attack. He operates out of the right in a free role. Cuts in from wide and pushes into the attack to create numerical advantages in those sectors of play. From that station he will pop up all over the pitch and rely on the game intelligence of his teammates to clog whatever gaps he leaves behind.

He almost single-handedly makes them a more dynamic threat with his passing and vision; he's very active, finding space, and causing trouble.

Adu will take most set-pieces, delivering nearly all corners, but sharing direct attempts on goal with Gomez, who is deadly accurate in his own right, bouncing his kicks dangerously a yard or two in front of goal in the attempt to handcuff the keeper.

The match against New York was Adu's best performance for the club since joining last summer. For the first time in many years he had a proper preseason and has slowly been rounding into form after missing time with the club attempting to qualify for the Olympics.

The right side, with Adu and Marfan backing him up provides a lot of the forward impetus, allowing Pajoy on the opposite flank to push forward in support of Mwanga. In that sense it is almost a lop-sided formation with the left stretching forward, while the right draws the attention.

To call Marfan a right-back is almost a misnomer given how much time he will spend far up the pitch. At times the back-four is nearly a back-three; but Carroll and Gomez holding in the midfield are able to slide over and provide cover to either side if necessary.

Gaddis has gotten forward a fair bit from the left-back slot, but should Garfan take the pitch, he will be expected to provide more, while also holding down that flank defensively. A task he is more attuned to than his twin brother.

The holding midfielders will make the occasional forays forward, looking to arrive late at the top of the box to get involved. Between Gomez and Carroll, the Panamanian (Gomez) is more likely to make late runs forward and he is quite proficient at both that and at dead-ball situations as his scoring record implies - four goals to lead the team.

Against Dallas they were caught trying to play a high defensive line, one that is susceptible to quick transitions and long ball over the top. That also contributed to losses in Seattle and to New York.

Looking at how they score the only uniting factor is the three players involved in the production. Adu, Gomez, and Pajoy have been involved in all eight of the Union's goal, whether combining amongst themselves, or with the help of Marfan or others. Keep an eye on them.

They have a tendency to score in the middle of the match; heading into and coming out of half-time is the time to be wary of conceding.

Exploitation

Since trading Califf, though it was a concern before as well, Philadelphia has been woeful on marking from dead-balls and picking up coverage of attackers at the far-post. Without Califf or Faryd Mondragon - who returned to Colombia prior to the start of the season - they have been lacking that vocal leader who barks instructions, takes responsibility and marshal's the back-line, hardly a surprise given the overall youth of the team.

New Captain Valdes is the tallest member of the quartet standing only - officially - six foot, not particularly large for an MLS centre-back.

Against Dallas in particular, with an inexperienced keeper in goal they were allowing free runs and generally non-protecting him from suffering contact.

Those back-post headers, especially in the most recent matches, have been the main source of goals against.

They are equally susceptible to quick attacks, when their high line is caught out of position. The back-line isn't slow, per se, but it is not fast enough to recover against the fastest attacks in the league if caught flat-footed.

Raking cross-field passes to free Joao Plata, Ryan Johnson, Reggie Lambe, and Nick Soolsma - whoever is playing - should find some space to attack.

If Gomez is fit - much like with Salt Lake - be aware of trailing runners following up and arriving late to the top of the box, for a pull back.

Points of Interest

The clubs will meet two more times in the regular season - in Philadelphia on July 8th and back in Toronto on September 15th.

There will be a reserve match after the first-team match concludes, stick around to catch a glimpse of Luis Boa Morte - the snake of death, not really, but - and the up and coming talents emerging from the academy - Qullian Roberts will likely be in goal, and highly thought of youngster Jordan Hamilton as well.

Philadelphia is one of the few teams in the league that does not have any former TFC players in its midst.

Philadelphia has only had one week this season where they have had more than a single match and that was due to the midweek friendly sandwiched between two Saturday league fixtures; compare that with Toronto's schedule.

Google snags the webOS Enyo team, HP says open source plans are still on schedule

At one time the Enyo app framework was supposed to help webOS run faster and on a wider variety of devices, but as HP continues to struggle, reports have surfaced from The Verge and AllThingsD that much of the team behind it, including leader Matthew McNulty, has been hired away by Google. Numbering a half dozen or so, the immediate danger is the effect this might have on HP's efforts to open source webOS, but in a statement the company indicated it remains on track and will stick to the roadmap it announced in January. Less clear is what these employees might end up working on for Google, although Enyo's focus on web apps and HTML5 suggests the possibility they'll end up working on ChromeOS projects.

The Growing Irrelevance of Baseball's Regular Season

Major League Baseball recently decided to add two more wildcard teams to its postseason, further diluting its regular season. Last year, the World Series was once again without the best regular season team from either the American League or National League. Those teams, the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies respectively, both lost in the first round of the playoffs. Prior to 1969, they would have been the two teams battling it out in the Fall Classic, as we have come it know it. Instead, we had the Texas Rangers, winners of the American League West with the league's second best record, against the St. Louis Cardinals, the National League's wildcard team.

1969 was the year when the regular season's best teams were no longer guaranteed a trip to the WORLD Series. That's when both leagues were split into Eastern and Western divisions, with the winners of each advancing to their respective League Championship Series (LCS), and those two winners advancing to the WORLD Series.

Very often, there would be a real disparity between the regular season records of THE division winners, with the team with the inferior record winning the league championship series.

An extreme case was in 1973, when the Cincinnati Reds won the National League West with the best record in baseball, and the New York Mets won the National League East while barely finishing above the.500 mark. However, the Mets ended up winning the best-of-five League Championship Series and advancing to the World Series. (NOTE: The LCS was not updated to a best-of-seven series until 1985).

An even more bizarre thing occurred in 1981, when the Reds, the team that had the best cumulative regular season record in the National League West, and the St. Louis Cardinals, the team that had the best cumulative regular season record IN THE National League East, both failed to qualify for postseason play at all! That's because a mid-season strike that year forced the season to be split in half, with an opening round of playoffs that had the first half winner of each division squaring off against its second half winner. In the National League West, the Los Angeles Dodgers were the first half winners (beating out the Reds by a mere half a game), and the Houston Astros were the second half winners. In the National League East, the Phillies were the first half winners while the Montreal Expos were the second half winners.

But things got even worse in 1995, when the current postseason format was first implemented. That's when the leagues were split into three divisions each, with each division winner and a wildcard team (the non-division winner with the best record) making the postseason. This created an extra round of playoffs that involved four best-of-five matchups called the League Division Series (LDS) that would have to be played prior to each league's LCS. Since this format began, wildcard teams have advanced to the World Series almost as often as teams possessing a league's best regular season record.

It appears that Major League Baseball is getting more and more like the National Hockey League (NHL), in which there is absolutely no correlation between its regular season and the outcome of its postseason. In other words, baseball's regular season is becoming almost completely irrelevant. Perhaps both MLB and the NHL should just cut to the chase each year by skipping the regular season and going directly to the playoffs. After all, what do all those regular season baseball games really mean anyway? Just ask the Yankees and Phillies - and Cardinals.

Facebook stock climbs after rocky start

(AP) ? Facebook's stock is climbing higher, a reprieve for shareholders after the stock's rocky inaugural trading day Friday was followed by a two-day decline.

Facebook Inc.'s stock is up $1.03, or 3.3 percent, to $32.03. That's still nearly 16 percent below the initial public offering price of $38. Meanwhile, a group of shareholders have filed a lawsuit against Facebook, its executives and Morgan Stanley, the IPO's lead underwriter. The suit, filed in U.S. District Court in New York, claims the company's IPO documents contained untrue statements and omitted important facts, such as a "severe reduction in revenue growth" that Facebook was experiencing at the time of the offering. The suit's three plaintiffs, who bought Facebook stock on its first day of trading May 18, claim they were damaged in the process.

In a statement, Facebook said the lawsuit is without merit. Morgan Stanley declined to comment.

Video: Scientists start explaining Fat Bastard's vicious cycle

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

Fat Bastard's revelation "I eat because I'm depressed and I'm depressed because I eat" in the Austin Powers film series may be explained by sophisticated neuroscience research being undertaken by scientists affiliated with the University of Montreal Hospital Research Centre (CR-CHUM) and the university's Faculty of Medicine. "In addition to causing obesity, rich foods can actually cause chemical reactions in the brain in a similar way to illicit drugs, ultimately leading to depression as the 'come-downs' take their toll," explain lead researcher, Dr. Stephanie Fulton. As is the case with drug addicts, a vicious cycle sets in where "food-highs" are used as a way to combat depression. "Data shows that obesity is associated with increased risk of developing depression, but we have very little understanding of the neural mechanisms and brain reward patterns that link the two," Fulton said. "We are demonstrating for the first time that the chronic consumption of palatable, high-fat diets has pro-depressive effects."

A molecule in the brain known as dopamine enables the brain to rewards us with good feelings, encouraging us to learn certain kinds of behaviour. This chemical is the same in humans as it is in mice and other animals. The research team feed mice different kinds of food and monitored how the diet affects the way the animals behave. Fulton and her colleagues use a variety of scientifically validated techniques to evaluate the relationship between rewarding mice with food and their resulting behaviour and emotions. The team is also contributing to the improvement of these techniques, such as the one demonstrated in the video. Later, the team actually looks at the brains of the mice to see how they have changed.

Mice that have been fed a higher-fat diet exhibit signs of being anxious, such as an avoidance of open areas, and of being depressed, such as making less of an effort to escape when trapped. Moreover, their brains have been physically altered by their experiences. For example, CREB is a molecule that controls the activation of genes involved in the functioning of our brains and is well known for its contribution to memory formation. CREB is much more activated in the brains of higher-fat diet mice. Finally, these mice have higher levels of corticosterone, a hormone that is associated with stress.

Stephanie Fulton of Universit? de Montr?al and its affiliated research hospital studies the behavior of mice and their brain chemistry to reveal how humans may act in similar circumstances.Credit: Sharma, S., Hryhorczuk, C., Fulton, S. Progressive-ratio Responding for Palatable High-fat and High-sugar Food in Mice . J. Vis. Exp. (63), e3754, DOI: 10.3791/3754 (2012).

Fulton and her team are part of a research network that is working together to address the biological reasons for obesity and its related diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, some cancers, and of course depression. She is based at the Montreal Diabetes Centre, an institution associated with the CHUM and four Montreal universities that brings together facilities for clinical research, cell biology and microscopy research, and rodent physiology research, such as that involved in the depression study. "Although popular culture jokes about these illnesses and even mocks the people who are suffering, obesity is a serious and major public health issue that already affects hundreds of millions of people. As a society, we must avoid creating stigma and discriminating against obese and depressed people," Fulton said. "With regards to research, it is urgent that we identify the molecules and neural pathways involved in obesity and obesity-related illnesses. My colleagues and I are committed to identifying the brain circuitry involved in these diseases and to improving the tools available to researchers working in the same field."

Biden dismisses Romney's experience in business

KEENE, N.H. (AP) ? The presidential campaign debate over Republican Mitt Romney's tenure at a private equity firm is going down the drain.

Vice President Joe Biden argued Tuesday that Romney's experience doesn't make him any more qualified to be president than it does to make him a plumber.

"That doesn't mean that private equity guys are bad guys ? they're not," Biden said at New Hampshire's Keene State College. "But that no more qualifies you to be president than being a plumber. And, by the way, there're an awful lot of smart plumbers. All kidding aside, it's not the same job requirement."

Romney argues that his business experience with the Boston-based firm Bain Capital makes him best suited to fix the economy and create jobs.

Biden's fourth trip to New Hampshire this year was an acknowledgment of the state's battleground status in the upcoming election.

Though he briefly criticized Romney on social issues such as contraception and touched on Romney's lack of foreign policy experience, most of his speech was devoted to echoing what Obama has been saying this week ? that Romney's success making money for investors at Bain Capital is not reason alone to be elected president.

The Romney campaign has called such criticism a distraction, an affront to free markets and a misreading of the firm's success. The campaign released a Web video last week featuring workers from an Indiana company that benefited from Bain's involvement.

Democrats have been focusing on the companies that Bain took over only to close them or let them fail. In addition to running ads and Web videos, the Obama campaign has been sending Biden to battleground states to press the issue.

In New Hampshire, Biden argued that when companies fail, it costs taxpayers in unemployment benefits and costs businesses that end up paying into a fund that helps laid-off workers recover their pensions. Like Obama, however, Biden stopped short of criticizing profit-making in general.

"That's their job. It's legitimate. But folks, making money regardless of the consequences for the workers at the companies they acquire or the communities that get wasted is another question," he said.

Biden said voters have an easy choice between what he described as the Obama administration's "commonsense approach" to a Republican philosophy that he asserted advocates "no rules for the big guys" and "no accountability when the fail."

"We will not go back to the '50s on social policy, to the Cold War on foreign policy, and the policies of our last administration on our economic policies," he said. "We will not do it their way again."

Biden said the economy is recovering, pointing to a chart showing job growth during Obama's tenure as president.

"That doesn't mean a lot of people aren't still hurting, and we're determined to change that," he said. "We've made important progress, but there's much more to do. But progress you can measure, just look at the chart. Progress that cannot be denied. Progress you can see."

The Romney campaign dismissed Biden's argument.

"Vice President Biden today claimed the Obama administration's economic progress 'cannot be denied,'" Romney campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul said in a statement. "He must not be talking to the millions of Americans who are suffering from declining incomes, fewer jobs and skyrocketing household costs in the Obama economy."
